Greetings, my name is Janice M. Porter certified parenting educator and owner and operator of Parenting Boot Camp of Hampton Roads.   I have worked in the social work field with children, families, and victims of crime for the past 8 years.  I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Norfolk State University in 2012.  I earned a Master’s of Social Work with a specialty in clinical social work, from The University of New England in 2018.  

 

I am also a Qualified Mental Health Professional for children.  Prior to becoming a social worker, I served 6 years in the United States Army and Army Reserves.  I am a combat veteran who served in Kuwait and Iraq.  I was called to become a parent educator after I began to struggle to find creative ways to parent my own strong-willed child.  After exploring countless programs and books; I was able to find techniques that worked.  I wish to share those techniques with other parents.  It is my goal to equip parents with the tools to raise confident and empathic children, that are prepared to go out and be fully functional members of society.
